Built in 1196 by the sultan Yacoub El Mansour. The intentions of the sultan were that this religious monument becomes the biggest one in the world. But the sudden death of the sultan stopped the works in fact the tower is 44 meters ad not the initially planned 66 meters. An earthquake in 1755...

The mausoleum Mohammed V is a royal grave which shelters the graves of Mohammed V and his sons. It was built between 1961 and 1971, it is one of the monuments the most important for Morocco.

A fortified district, which was originally a small fortress set up by Almoravides on the XII century.

Dâr-al-Mahkzen is the royal palace where more than two thousand people work and live. It is recently built because it dates back to 1864 and was set up on the ruins of the former palace.

This building was destroyed by the earthquake of 1755 and stayed in the state of ruins during several hundreds of years.This site is henceforth classified and protected by the Morrocan authorities, which seized all the historic and tourist interest of this unrivalled place.
